Experience is a great teacher. None of us are perfect; sometimes, we learn as much from our failures as from our successes. Learning these lessons is part of the journey.

Public Safety

In just a few short years, Hamburg has faced storms, floods, the COVID-19 pandemic, a BLM protest march, security issues in the schools and parks, in addition to the constant traffic issues and rise in incivility towards each other. The future is uncertain, and often decisive action is necessary. The Mayor is charged with maintaining public order and safety in good times and bad. George has been actively involved with each of these crises, and there is no greater responsibility as Mayor.

Team Building

George has spent a lifetime building successful teams and leading organizational change. Creating and managing highly effective organizations takes time and effort. External examinations and certifications are great tools at measuring effectiveness. This is why George has been a strong proponent of accreditation, both at the police department and county coroner’s office.

Media Relations

Cultivating good media relationships helps connect the good that happens in the community to a larger audience. This means regular conversations with members of the media to highlight stories that generate public interest and viewership. Bringing issues to the forefront also illustrates the challenges we face, and how to overcome them.
